Bernabé is a community leader from Cruz Grade village in Santa Barbara, Huehuetenango. He manages his 1.4-hectare farm La Vega del Rio with his wife Ovidia Sales where they have planted Pache Común variety, a natural mutation of Typica found in Guatemala. As a family they work together to carry out all farm work during the harvest cycle including activities such as shade management, fertilization, picking, processing, drying amongst other tasks to collect and sale their coffee in parchment.Over 35 years, Bernabé has dedicated his life to growing coffee and other food staples, especially corn and beans. He started by himself, and along the way, he faced challenges because there wasn’t much interest in coffee back then. However, ten years ago, he became more involved in his community and specialty coffee market, and he realized that by working together as a community, they could find new buyers and move all coffee produced in the area. Now, as the group leader, he has been key to finding new markets and establishing four harvests ago a fruitful relationship with Caravela. He shares, he is happy to see all the work done is reflected on each bean and each cup of coffee.

This coffee is a triumph of the taste buds and of the spirit. The mad priest strikes again!!
The crema is gorgeous! The bean, roast, and grind quality are all superb!
Solid mug. Dope finish and look. I've had this thing for a year and it's held up. Use it every day.
It wasn't what I expected, but I was delighted that a coffee could be so fruity and floral with no real bitterness. Pretty solid stuff!
Thank you for finding this for us and for making it available to us.
Better than all the rest. All coffee lovers have to give this a try. Hopefully we'll get that chance sooner rather than later!
So good! I’m excited to go to bed at night so I can wake up and drink this coffee.
I absolutely loved the smooth, rich taste of Dark Night of the Soul from Mad Priest Coffee. Every bean was full of rich flavor that brightened my day and night. A bold and delicious brew in my cup! Caffeine really never tasted so good!
So good, will definitely become a new favorite.

First of all, when the package came in the mail I could SMELL the coffee just holding it. It smelled divine! I kept sniffing it before I even opened the packaging.
Second, I was very disappointed to not taste it. But it was supposed to be a gift. I was severely tempted to just keep it. However, my wonderfully fabulous boss has been very overworked and I don't want him to quit and then be replaced with a boss from hell. Seriously, the other two locations have hell bosses. I don't want that. So, this was part of my ongoing endeavor to make him feel appreciated and never leave because I would be big sad. And he said it tasted great, so thanks for the help Mad Priest. Shout Out to best Boss Jim!
This is our favorite coffee
