From our importer Caravela: La Roca is produced by 40 small coffee farmers located in the Cordillera del Dipilto, a nature reserve with incredible biodiversity of flora and fauna. It is located very close to the border with Honduras. The region is popular for the annual celebration of the Fiesta de la Virgen de Guadalupe, named after the Virgen de la Piedra, a sacred monument on the famous large rock at Dipilto. Locals and people from many regions come together to celebrate. This is where La Roca gets its name from. Specialty coffee is what makes Dipilto such a well-known area. Conditions like elevation, soil and microclimates make this community ideal for exceptional coffees.
Caravela Nicaragua began working with small and medium producers in this area in 2012. However, it wasn't until the end of 2013 that we decided to set up a cupping lab and dry mill in Ocotal, which allowed us to be closer to producers and help them produce better-quality coffees. Today, this facility is Caravela’s main headquarters.

I make this in my French press and it is fantastic. Rich and complex but also smooth and buttery. Highly recommend.
Seriously - I cannot get enough of this coffee. I go through a 5lb bag every 45 or so days and the Nicaragua (and Mexico) beans from MPC are my favorites.
