When we started MP in 2015 (at least that’s when I registered it as a company with the state) - one thing I knew from that day moving forward was that I wanted to operate with full authenticity. For myself. For the customers. For the company. I just don’t do “fake”. I never have. It’s what got me in pickles a bunch growing up (or still does lol), because I’d ask too many questions, or show my true feelings, or aren’t diplomatic enough (don’t worry, I’ve grown). It’s weird. It’s like it's engrained in my being. 

If you have followed us for any length of time, I’m sure you’ve seen this through things like our brand taking different shapes, or how we communicate. 

 

Authenticity is the first of several values we have as a company. We have it in our handbook. I talk about it a lot. As an employee, if you are not genuine or real, you will likely not last very long. Even as a customer, honestly. 

 

As we were discussing email and social media ideas for the coming months, one thing that came up was sharing with you all each of our values, and the why behind them. So welcome to the first one; Authenticity.

For me, this value encompasses the idea of becoming our true selves - discovering who we are, and living that out to the fullest. Never at the expense of others obviously. But I truly believe that this wild journey called life where we are a bunch of particles floating around on a space rock is such a beautiful opportunity, I would never want to be stuck living it for someone, or something, else. I think being able to communicate with others in a real way, sharing feelings, and communing on a deeper level where we acknowledge and exist in this shared experience is a marvelous thing. 

 

Also, we evolve. It is inevitable. I suppose some folks may not, but IMO, they are more or less just resistant to the reality of how the world works. But those with open hearts and minds, and hungry for fullness, tend to evolve through life. It’s simply the human experience. And within this evolution, learning to be honest about it, communicate it, share about it, understand the whys, is something that I want to be open and honest about.

 

I realize I do not owe anyone explanations, but as one who has colleagues and friends aiding in the growth of this business, and folks willing to continue buying from me, I feel obligated (in the best way) to share these things.

 

For me, as I have grown in this area, I have found myself experiencing a whole new level of peace, joy and love. 

 

As a business, we strive to operate authentically by being ourselves, unashamedly. This overflows into the business relationships we have, the coffee we buy, and how we operate the business. The one guarantee you’ll have walking into our shop or perusing our website, is raw honesty. No fluff here. We hope to plant little seeds of inspiration.
