High in the rugged hills of Maghreb Ans, at 2,100 MASL, this Kent variety thrives in a region defined by water scarcity, isolation, and challenging terrain. Despite these obstacles, the farmers of Ans have preserved their agricultural heritage. This coffee is composed entirely of peaberries—rare, naturally occurring beans that develop when only one seed forms inside the coffee cherry. Known for their dense structure and concentrated flavours, these peaberries offer a vibrant and unique cup profile, enhancing the exclusivity of this lot.

Sourced in partnership with local smallholder farmers through a carefully designed fresh cherry supply chain, each peaberry undergoes meticulous natural processing, ensuring the preservation of its exceptional qualities. With complete traceability down to the individual farmer, this coffee exemplifies collaboration that uplifts farming
communities while delivering unparalleled quality.

ABOUT HAYMA DAKHILIYA XI

Hayma Dakhiliya is a coffee growing region located in the west of the Sana’a governorate, and is one of the governorate’s most well-known regions. The region has 11 mountainous villages located 50 km west to the capital city of Sana’a. Some of these include Al Yaer, Bait Yaseen, Al Mezab and Bait Al Kabsh. However, due to rough terrain and rugged roads, these villages are hard to reach and remain isolated from the city. Access to education, healthcare and other amenities also remains limited due to the same reason.

The Sana’a governorate occupies the biggest share of Yemeni specialty coffee production in quality and quantity. The main coffee- growing areas are Hayma Dakhiliya, Hayma Kharijiya, Bani Matar, Bani Ismail, and Haraaz. Some factors that make high-quality coffee growing possible here include a range of altitudes, soil fertility, microclimate and rainfall.

Sana’a is also home to Yemen’s capital city, which has one of the longest-continuous coffee cultures in the world. Much of the coffee consumed there is prepared using the traditional Ibrik method, brewing coffee in a copper or silver pot over hot charcoal.

**Haven’t heard about Yemenia?

Qima Coffee, together with scientists from Alliance for Coffee Excellence, discovered a pure Arabica “Mother Population” a few years ago, called Yemenia. It represents a new ocean of genetics with untapped potential to transform the genetic landscape of Coffea Arabica. We were part of the first global auction where Yemenia was introduced to the world in 2020 and purchased one of the top lots. Everyone literally freaked out over it…in a good way, you know. Now, a few years later, we can’t quite afford the top lots of Yemenia, but we did everything in our power to bring you some of this heavenly goodness once again!
